About

Who am I? racefanphd is the nom de cyber of a thirty-something professor of history and life-long race fan. I’ve been watching races on tv since I was 10 years old, and have attended NASCAR Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup, Busch/Nationwide Series, Modified Tour, as well as CART Indycar and Indylights races in person (still working on doing F1). I grew up in New England, attended school in New England, the Midwest, and the South, and currently work at large university in the Midwest.

At this point, Watching NASCAR from the Ivory Tower is a hobby – a place for me to vent any number of things I’m thinking about modern motorsports and its connections to our crazy, modern world.
